The core role of RetainTime is to capture where each resource has spent their time. The main screen reflects a familiar timesheet format much like many traditional paper based timesheets.

RetainTime can be used in a networked environment or as a stand-alone system. Where integrated with Retain, the resource planning system, RetainTime can provide up to the minute comparisons of plan versus actual. It can be set up with either an MS SQL Server or MS Access database.

The Skills module allows you to define and store comprehensive skills information against resources. Used in combination with Retain, it ensures that you can get the best person for the job.

The following are example types of information that might be stored against people:

• Languages spoken and fluency
• Skill and level of achievement
• Project experience and number of months
• Journey time from company offices
  
  

All of these can be stored under separate categories and selections made so that one could search for staff who:

• Live within 2 hours of the Manchester office
• Worked on Project Alpha for 3 months or more, and can speak French & Spanish fluently
  
  

The Retain Outlook Importer allows resource schedulers to email notification of bookings to resources. The notification can be sent as a readable email, or it can be configured to automatically update an individual's Outlook Calendar.

The Retain Exchange Link allows personal calendars to be updated with jobs scheduled in the Retain software. The staff can view their personal schedules through Outlook.

• Ability to specify the fields in the message body
• Option for non-Retain appointments to be uploaded in to Retain (on Client-Server edition)
• Ability to restrict on date ranges, staff and jobs

The Retain Web Viewer allows users to view the Retain Wallchart via the internet.

The user simply logs in to the Web viewer and then selects the name of the resource and the period to be reviewed.

Users can view the details of bookings related to 'Resources' and 'Tasks' as they can in the desktop version.

Retain Advanced Reports extends the report writing capabilities of Retain and RetainTime. Timeseries reports, Tailored calculated fields and user defined formulae are all possible with the Advanced Reports.
